Stratus Lantern Roofs

Stratus Lanterns come in several configurations: 2-way, 3-way, 4-way, or a contemporary style. Depending on the configuration, the maximum external dimensions are:

• 2-way: up to ~1500 mm × 6000 mm

• 3-way: up to ~3000 mm × 6000 mm

• 4-way: up to ~2000 mm × 2000 mm

• Contemporary style: up to ~1500 mm × 3000 mm

All dimensions are measured to the external face of the timber upstand (kerb).

Stratus uses 24 mm glazing as standard. The aluminium frame is fully thermally broken (inner and outer skins separated by low-conductivity material), which reduces heat transfer and improves energy efficiency. Compared with conventional aluminium roof systems, Stratus can be up to ~65% more thermally efficient. Building regs guidance: generally, glass with a U-value ≥ 1.2 W/m²K will be acceptable for most sizes. For lanterns with a projection under 0.6 m, glass with a U-value of ~1.0 W/m²K may be required.

External cappings are powder-coated aluminium, available in standard colours (White, Grey, Black) or any bespoke RAL colour to match windows/doors or project styling. Internal cappings can be aluminium or uPVC (depending on spec).

Yes — Stratus can be specified with roof vents (subject to minimum roof lantern dimensions). For vented lanterns, the minimum size is ~500 mm × 500 mm.

Yes — one of the design priorities was to make Stratus installer-friendly. The fixed 20° pitch, minimalist frame (slim ridge, discreet rafters), and purpose-designed components allow for a clean, professional installation and a refined architectural finish.

You’ll need a timber (or suitable) upstand/kerb ready for the lantern to sit on. Measurements for ordering should be taken from the external face of that upstand (including any waterproof membrane). Additionally, note that the system is designed around fixed rafter spacing (max 1500 mm) and fixed pitch (20°).

Yes — although often used in residential extensions or orangeries, Stratus Lantern Roofs are suitable for both domestic and commercial applications where a high-quality aluminium lantern roof is required.

Stratus Lanterns are competitively priced and have relatively short lead times (e.g., ~5 working days, depending on the spec) for standard configurations. Custom RAL colours, internal/external colour mixing, and various configuration options are available to meet bespoke project requirements.
