Conservatory Installation Guide

Double Glazing Bursledon

Novaseal have created a conservatory installation guide that will give you a step by step process to follow for a smooth process. There are different types of conservatories, so it may differ slightly depending on which type you are installing. We offer Ultraroof, Livinroof and Performance Glass Roof all from Ultraframe.

Our conservatory installation guide will be very helpful in giving you an overview of the process. Before you start, make sure you have a good understanding of how to install a conservatory.

How Long Will It Take To Build?

Conservatories are reasonably big projects, and it will depend on the type and size you are installing. Usually, these types of projects can take anywhere from 2 weeks to five weeks. Make sure you have enough time to complete the installation to create a beautiful and long lasting build for the customer.

Tools and Equipment

To ensure that the conservatory roof installation goes as smoothly as possible, you will need to have the right tools and equipment. We recommend you have:

  • Tape measure
  • Spirit levels
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Safety equipment for your team

For the first step in your conservatory installation, you must ensure that you have all the correct dimensions and measurements for the specific customer. Double check these measurements are accurate and fit in with the design plans you have created. You will also need to make sure that you have the correct designs for windows and doors and any other specifications you may need.

You will also need to make sure that where you plan on building the conservatory, that there is nothing obstructing the space. The space needs to be clear, so ensure that anything is removed before the installation begins.

Step 2 – Installation

Foundation

The first step of the installation process is to create your foundation. A good solid foundation is needed to create a durable conservatory. Make sure that you have the right dimensions for your base and fill it in. Also, ensure that the base is level when you are filling it in. The foundation will take a few days to dry.

Brickwork/Framework

This step will vary depending on what type of conservatory you install and what the customer has chosen for their property. If you install a steel framework for the conservatory, you will not need to do any brickwork.

Alternatively, you might have some brickwork to do. Again, this will vary depending on the design of the conservatory the customer wants to install. The brickwork might be a foot of wall around the bottom or a few columns built on the edges.

Windows and Doors

Once you have completed the brickwork on the conservatory, the next step will be to begin fitting the framework for the windows and doors. The windows and doors you have will vary in size and design as the customer would have been able to customise what they wanted. We offer a range of windows and doors and they will come with double glazing as a standard.

Along the brickwork, you will need to set the positions for the wall connectors for any windows or doors. These wall connectors will need to be sealed to ensure the conservatory is protected from all weather fronts and will not let in excess water or draughts.

Once you have sealed the wall connectors, you can start to fit the first panel. Fit the windows one by one starting from an edge nearest to the property. After having all the windows fitted and being happy with them, you can fit the doors. Th

e doors will differ depending on design and size, but make sure they are fitted correctly and securely to the conservatory.

Roof Installation

After all the windows and doors have been fitted and sealed, you can move on to the final installation process of fitting the roof. We supply a range of different roof designs, so therefore they will all vary on installation. Please see our Ultraroof installation guide for more detail on the process of a tiled conservatory roof.

Make sure you have the correct brackets fitted to the main wall of the property, as this is what will support the main beam of the conservatory roof. Once you have fitted all supporting beams, you can add the panels and insulate the roof. Make sure when you finish the roof that it is all secure and stable.

Step 3 – Finishes and Cleaning

Once you have completed your conservatory installation, make sure that your team will clean up the space they have been working in. Take any equipment and tools you have used with you and any rubbish that may be left behind.
